HOUSE IN "EL BOSQUE" I

"El Bosque" residential area. Somo. Ribamontán al Mar (Cantabria)

Located in the "El Bosque" residential area of Loredo, this house is characterized by its serene, understated design. It was conceived to establish an ongoing dialogue with the surrounding lush landscape. Most of the living spaces are arranged on a spacious ground floor, framed by porches and transitional areas that blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Expansive glazing strengthens this connection, allowing the landscape to become an integral part of everyday life within the home.

On the upper floor, a study opens onto a generous terrace overlooking Loredo Beach. This space is designed to maximize sunlight exposure during the winter months—a highly valued feature in Cantabria's climate.

The house occupies the highest point of the site, adapting naturally to the existing topography while respecting its changes in elevation. To minimize its visual impact, a restrained palette of exposed concrete, timber, and glass has been employed. Their neutral tones allow the surrounding landscape to remain the true focal point. Ultimately, the house is deeply rooted in its setting, blending into the landscape rather than imposing itself upon it.
